St Patrick’s Study Sikhism
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School had a week long series of events to develop awareness of life in Asia. The week started in great fashion with a two day visit from Roop and Surinder Singh from the Sikh Education Council in Leeds. Roop, a well known story teller, has travelled the world telling stories from the Sikh Culture and in two days he helped the children prepare and present a play, including making all the props. Roop and Surinder can be seen, with some of the children, in the picture with the backdrop the children made for their play.
The most common word heard during Roop’s two day visit was ‘WOW!’ The children were wowed first of all by his beard, then by his story telling and the parents were wowed by the quality of the work he produced with the children.
